A PROLIFIC Ballarat-based artist has made his return to local exhibiting after about a decade-long absence.<\/p>\n
With his previous Ballarat show held at Macarthur Frameworks and Gallery, Jon Crawley currently has more than 100 pieces on display at Accent Framing and Fine Art.<\/p>\n
Initially intending to exhibit in the space in 2020, Crawley said it felt \u201cabout time\u201d he made his local re-emergence.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis seems to have promoted quite a lot of interest from people in the region,\u201d he said. \u201cI guess I\u2019ve developed a bit of notoriety around town.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re mainly watercolour works which I\u2019ve spent about 65 years doing. You learn how to control it but you never learn how to master it.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s what I call a living medium, it\u2019s got a life of its own. You\u2019re dependent on water content, air temperature, the amount of water on the brush and paper.<\/p>\n
\u201cI particularly like doing landscape and architectural stuff. I come from that traditional school of artists.\u201d<\/p>\n
Amie Murphy, owner of Accent Framing and Fine Art, said it\u2019s wonderful to have their space host Crawley\u2019s works.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re very privileged to have Jon here exhibiting,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019ve had a lot of interest from the public and made a few big sales here already.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople love his work and he\u2019s just such an amazing and versatile artist.\u201d<\/p>\n
Crawley will be painting onsite during the exhibition\u2019s last day on Saturday, 25 February, which coincides with the first anniversary of Accent Framing and Fine Art operating under new management.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
