AN announcement by the City of Ballarat has confirmed a restructure of its bureaucracy, with the aim improving the delivery of events and tourism offerings in the municipality.<\/p>\n
First mooted in late January, the realignment centres around a new department called Economy, Experience and Commonwealth Games, and combines the City\u2019s tourism, arts, and events staff.<\/p>\n
The changes were proposed by CEO Evan King late last month, who said they will improve the municipality\u2019s events capability in the leadup to the 2026 Games.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe structural realignment will deliver greater long-term benefits for our community and ensure the Commonwealth Games provides us with a lasting legacy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am confident that the incorporation of this new directorate will deliver greater long-term benefits for all staff and equip us to be better prepared to respond to our community\u2019s needs.<\/p>\n
\u201cRecruitment will now commence for a director of Economy, Experience and Commonwealth Games.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe current organisational structure will remain in place until the commencement of the new director.\u201d<\/p>\n
A statement from the City of Ballarat said before the restructuring was confirmed feedback was sought from municipal employees.<\/p>\n
