AN annual golf fundraiser is set to return next week with the aim of supporting Cafs\u2019 Thread Together program.<\/p>\n
On Friday, 17 March, players will ready their clubs as part of Tee Up for Kid\u2019s fourth Ian Stanley Classic, which has raised nearly $50,000 for the child care service\u2019s initiative.<\/p>\n
With a full field of players needed, TUFK chair Mark Northeast said they\u2019re looking for more participants to drive the event home.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need a full field which is 22 teams of four so that\u2019s 88 people,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re just on 50 now so we\u2019re reaching out for more in the leadup to this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re aiming to raise $20,000 this year for Cafs. In our first year we raised $11,000 and last year it was $12,000.<\/p>\n
\u201cIan Stanley was a founding director of Tee Up for Kids and was also a great supporter of the Hepburn Springs Golf Club so this event is in his honour.\u201d<\/p>\n
Taking place across 18 holes, the all-day event will include raffles, a post-game auction and breakfast, lunch and dinner.<\/p>\n
The Thread Together initiative delivered clothing for 1000 clients in its first year with funds raised through TUFK.<\/p>\n
Cafs program and volunteer lead Nicole Roberts said the non-profit is an essential part of their operation.<\/p>\n
\u201cTee Up for Kids is our main fundraiser,\u201d she said. \u201cWe aren\u2019t funded in any way so it\u2019s so important we can fundraise enough, continuing to meet the needs in the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe offer brand new clothing to families and people in need and that clothing, particularly when we\u2019re targeting youth, it\u2019s so important for them to feel they\u2019re dressed appropriately.\u201d<\/p>\n
