THE City of Ballarat\u2019s agreement with Western United Football Club is set to continue for another twelve months.<\/p>\n
The $85,000 extension will see the club retain it their association with the municipality in basing games and events in the region.<\/p>\n
City of Ballarat spokesperson Cr Ben Taylor said Western United\u2019s connection to region has been a great draw for the city\u2019s sporting reputation.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough hosting the matches in Ballarat provide an economic boost every time a match is held, it contributes in so many other ways,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn their very own doorstep, Ballarat people can watch soccer at an elite level and that is definitely going to help the sport grow.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe addition of the Western United women\u2019s side also provides another huge boost that aligns with our girls to increase female sport participation as part of our Active Women and Girls Strategy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The club\u2019s Western United Cup was first held at the Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility in 2022, and is set to run again this year.<\/p>\n
