PERFORMING artist Aimee Br\u00fbl\u00e9e\u2019s latest album is blending two of her great loves under the one project.<\/p>\n
With nearly 20 years’ experience working as a gastronomy researcher and teacher, Br\u00fbl\u00e9e’s newest work called Bon App\u00e9tit is combining her two passions with a collection of songs themed around food and drink.<\/p>\n
She said the idea for the album has been \u201cbubbling around\u201d for a few years.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do things around food and wine and they\u2019re very close to my heart,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought what if I pick all those songs that are actually about food and wine and roll the music and the food, all the things I love, into one.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe album is very fun and it\u2019s got a lot of energy. I just love making things that make people joyful and happy, so this album is that for me both musically and content-wise.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s songs about breakfast then coffee, and they can take you right through the day into drinking champagne at midnight.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 13-song track list features works dating back to the 1920s and includes classic hits like Sugar In My Bowl to more obscure songs like Drinking Champagne.<\/p>\n
Recorded at Melbourne\u2019s Pughouse Studios, Br\u00fbl\u00e9e is accompanied by Ben Calderazzo on guitar with double bass by Rob Gador.<\/p>\n
A launch event for the album is set to be held at Kilderkin Distillery this weekend, which Br\u00fbl\u00e9e said is a perfect place to unveil the tunes.<\/p>\n
\u201cI did a gig there earlier this year and it\u2019s a lovely venue,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s important for me to do this album launch in a place where I like what they do as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe owners, Chris and Rebecca, are both really into music. It\u2019s great for me because I\u2019ve got one foot in music and one in gastronomy, so it\u2019s great to work with other people that do the same.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve wanted for 10 years, since Amie Br\u00fbl\u00e9e has been out and about, to have cr\u00e8me br\u00fbl\u00e9e at a gig so I\u2019m excited that\u2019ll be on offer from the amazing chefs at Peasant.\u201d<\/p>\n
Thirteen photos taken for the album are on display at Kilderkin until the launch on Saturday, 15 April.<\/p>\n
