THE chief executive officer for the City of Ballarat, Evan King, will be around a while longer with councillors offering a new contract to extend his term.<\/p>\n
The offer was presented to Mr King following his annual performance review and will see his time as CEO continued for another four years with the option for an extra one year after that.<\/p>\n
Councillors voted on the decision during their meeting on Wednesday, 22 March and mayor Cr Des Hudson said it highlighted Mr King\u2019s competency in the role.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a real vote of confidence in Evan\u2019s leadership which has provided much needed stability for the organisation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has also brought greater accountability and transparency to the way the City of Ballarat serves the needs of our community.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnder Evan\u2019s leadership, we look forward to seeing the organisation continue to deliver against the current Council Plan.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr King has been the CEO for the municipality since early 2021 following a four-month search after the firing of previous CEO, Justine Linley the year before.<\/p>\n
Before moving to the City of Ballarat, Mr King had been the CEO for Hepburn Shire for more than two years, and also pent time as Pyrenees Shire\u2019s director of corporate and community services.<\/p>\n
He also held corporate and managerial roles with The Salvation Army and Mars Wrigley.<\/p>\n
One of Mr King\u2019s early initiatives for the municipality was to establish the new council plan, with the current document in use until 2025.<\/p>\n
His new contract came into effect on Wednesday this week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
