A NEW small business is aiming to make psychological treatment affordable for everyone.<\/p>\n
Davey Morrison launched his own clothing line, Morro Mental Health, last week, to fundraise in support of the mental health sector.<\/p>\n
He is directing 10 per cent of every sale to subsidise psychologists\u2019 appointments, so people in need can easily access treatment.<\/p>\n
Mr Morrison was inspired to develop the small enterprise having faced his own mental health challenges, and he knew he wasn\u2019t the only one.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had the idea about a year ago,\u201d he said. \u201cI was struggling, and I saw my friends and family struggle, and we weren\u2019t able to afford to see someone about it.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnce a month I donate all funds raised. Funding like this, so people can see a psychologist, is essential. There\u2019s that many people that don\u2019t see someone just because they can\u2019t afford to.<\/p>\n
\u201cMorro Mental Health is also a way for me to spread awareness of mental health.\u201d<\/p>\n
Barkly Square hosted an official launch morning for Morro Mental Health last week where Mr Morrison introduced his project to the community, sold some clothes, and spread the word about his online store.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m selling hoodies, jackets, long sleeve and short sleeve tops, beanies, caps and bucket hats,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve done the designs, and Hip Pocket Workwear and Safety make them for me. I\u2019ve chosen really calming colours that I hope will be appealing to a lot of people.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m mainly based online, but I\u2019m going to take a stall around to as many places as I can. The response at the launch was great, and there were a lot more people than I was expecting.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
