THE oldest secular boys\u2019 choir in Australia is on stage in Ballarat this Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Australian Boys Choir will be performing Songs of the Sea at the Anglican Cathedral with pieces from some of Australia\u2019s most well-known composers.<\/p>\n

Artist director Nick Dinopoulos has been with the choir for 17 years and in his current role since 2018.<\/p>\n

He said this performance will be an opportunity to see world class music.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese kids are just incredible,\u201d he said. \u201cThe work these boys put in goes above and beyond what the average primary school choir can achieve.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey really do things to a professional standard and have achieved acclaim internationally.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an opportunity to see really talented kids doing amazing things.\u201d<\/p>\n

The concert will feature the boys alongside a vocal accompaniment of adults, singing to the theme of songs of the sea.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last couple of years I\u2019ve embarked on putting together a themed season of concerts,\u201d Dinopoulos said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast year\u2019s season was all about journeying and travels, this year is all about singers and songs.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of the program is made up of Australian music which is something we are really proud to champion.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group began in 1939 in Melbourne and aims to provide excellence in choral music training.<\/p>\n

Since then, choir leaders has educated thousands of performers and has been reviewed by the New York Times <\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIn essence the program is a great mix of studio training and live performance as you can\u2019t have one without the others,\u201d Dinopoulos said.<\/p>\n

\u201cInvolvement in the choir is life changing.\u201d<\/p>\n
