{"id":94453,"date":"2023-06-28T04:56:54","date_gmt":"2023-06-27T18:56:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=94453"},"modified":"2023-06-21T17:51:41","modified_gmt":"2023-06-21T07:51:41","slug":"make-art-like-a-pre-raphaelite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/make-art-like-a-pre-raphaelite\/","title":{"rendered":"Make art like a Pre-Raphaelite"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A SERIES of creative activities are being led by the Art Gallery of Ballarat to complement the <em>Pre-Raphaelites: Drawings and Watercolours<\/em> and <em>In the Company of Morris<\/em> exhibitions.<\/p>\n<p>The events include talks, forums, tours, and workshops and are planned for this winter, with the aim of engaging the community in the art styles of the Pre-Raphaelite movement.<\/p>\n<p>Between Saturday 8 and Saturday 29 July, gallery visitors are invited to draw throughout exhibition spaces with award-winning artist Lisa Nolan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLisa will introduce participants to the art of drawing from other artworks,\u201d a gallery spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpend time in the Pre-Raphaelites exhibition&#8230; learn drawing basics, different techniques of perspective and composition, and tricks to finding inspiration in the work of other artists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former gallery director Christopher Menz is set to lead a Morris and Me discussion between In the Company of Morris artists Glenn Barkley, Deborah Klein and Kate Rohde on Saturday 15 July, which will focus on their diverse contemporary works and practices.<\/p>\n<p>Nolan is also set to lead a workshop on the ancient drawing technique of silverpoint on Sunday 16 July.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Lily Mae Martin will teach people how to draw like a Pre-Raphaelite on Sunday 22 July and Sunday 5 August, and textile artist Jem Olsen will share basic embroidery skills on Sunday 30 July.<\/p>\n<p>For the hearing-impaired community, an Auslan tour of the Pre-Raphaelites show is planned for Saturday 22 July, and a drawing workshop will follow.<\/p>\n<p>Visit the Art Gallery of Ballarat website for more information and to book.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A SERIES of creative activities are being led by the Art Gallery of Ballarat to complement the Pre-Raphaelites: Drawings and Watercolours and In the Company of Morris exhibitions.
