TWO workshops of mythological proportions are coming to the Femxle Experience Art Rebellion space at Bridge Mall with the first session to take place tomorrow.<\/p>\n
Following the first goddess life drawing class tomorrow, a second is set to be held on Friday next week, both hosted by Maegan Boundey, program director at Red Tree Community Arts.<\/p>\n
Boundey is no stranger to workshops, with the organisation holding therapeutic trauma-informed sessions centred around artistic creation.<\/p>\n
She said the life drawing classes will be of a similar vein.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will feed back into what we normally do while giving me a way to make those community connections since we\u2019re pretty new to Ballarat,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first goddess will be The Morrigan, which is an Irish figure of war and death and other cool things.\u201d<\/p>\n
After going through standard still life techniques, Boundey will read a brief story about the goddess\u2019 place in mythology.<\/p>\n
If successful, the workshops will potentially be an ongoing collaboration between FEAR and Red Tree Community Arts, with each session focusing on a different goddess.<\/p>\n
Boundey said the workshop will also be an empowering dive into mythology.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a theoretical concept, that we\u2019re exploring mythology and its power to connect with our lives all these centuries later,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt helps us to make sense and meaning in our lives. Humanity\u2019s always done that, looked back on myths and legends for clarity.\u201d<\/p>\n
Running from 1pm to 3pm, both sessions will cost $45 and can be booked at FEAR\u2019s website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
