THE community are invited to come share words, poems, prose, or songs at open mic events as part of Ballarat Spoken Word.<\/p>\n
The sessions are being held at Femxle Experience Art Rebellion, or FEAR, and are on the first Wednesday of every month with a gold coin donation upon entry to go towards art collective.<\/p>\n
\u201cBallarat Spoken Word is an opportunity for people to share their poetry or any form of words whether it be poems, prose or even song format,\u201d said convenor Marty Monstar.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the only poetry event in Ballarat and we have a lot of creatives so it\u2019s an outlet for them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Organisers are aiming to provide a space for creatives to come together and celebrate the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople can bring along any works they\u2019ve been writing and these days most people are a phone poet, so they have their phones with whatever they want to share with people,\u201d said Monstar.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s always good to hear people\u2019s stories and poetry is very personal.\u201d<\/p>\n
FEAR co-founder Toni Louise urged anyone to come along even if they want to sit and listen.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe encourage everyone to come, you don\u2019t necessarily have to participate, just come and enjoy the night,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The collaboration between FEAR and Ballarat Spoken Word is seeing to provide a way to continue fostering creativity in the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cSomething that\u2019s really important for FEAR is that we want to support the creative community of Ballarat in whatever way that is,\u201d said Louise.<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving something like Ballarat Spoken Word down here, which is different to just pen and paper, is something that\u2019s quite beautiful to see.\u201d<\/p>\n
