A RECENTLY-established event set to run on the first Sunday of every month is giving people the opportunity to give new life to their tools and produce.<\/p>\n
Since launching in late May, the Creswick Repair and Share is becoming a regular fixture at the town\u2019s neighbourhood centre, developed by members of sustainability group Transition Creswick.<\/p>\n
Coordinator, Tim Drylie, said the idea was formed when the Daylesford Repair Cafe utilised the space earlier in the year.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt fitted really well with some of the people in our group,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a really great interest from the community. There\u2019s a lot of interest in getting beyond the planned obsolescence of products.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s being part of that circular economy. It\u2019s a great fun day where people can put their minds together about how to repair things and share ideas.\u201d<\/p>\n
With two events have been held so far, the next one is set to be the first to incorporate regular workshops.<\/p>\n
Mr Drylie said their event differs from a traditional repair cafe.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve incorporated our produce swap into this which was held on Saturday mornings,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve now got the one day where we\u2019ve combined our community dinner with soup as part of the Repair and Share. It\u2019s combining the three things.\u201d<\/p>\n
