In general, \u2018downsizing\u2019 means moving from a larger to a smaller home, and in many cases freeing up equity to alleviate financial pressure.<\/p>\n

Downsizing can be an appealing option, especially if you\u2019re worried about home maintenance on a large, or deteriorating, family home, or you want somewhere you can safely \u2018lock up and leave\u2019 while you set out to explore the country.<\/p>\n

As with any important life decision, you need to weigh up what\u2019s best for you.<\/p>\n

Your downsizing decision will include many specific considerations, but the big three focus areas are undoubtedly location, community, and finance.<\/p>\n

Location is a very personal aspect, but the majority of downsizers stay relatively close to their family or local area (not surprising when beautiful historic Ballarat is in your backyard!).<\/p>\n
