OUT of five thousand national applicants, Australia Post has named Lexton\u2019s Leroy Mac Designs a 2023 Local Business Hero.<\/p>\n
The family business led by fourth generation wool growers produces 100 per cent merino blankets and garments, all made from the fleece off the back of their farm\u2019s sheep.<\/p>\n
Company director Rebecca McErvale said she and her husband Rodney were excited to be celebrated.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I got the call, it was amazing,\u201d she said. \u201cTo have won it is fabulous.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s another way we can continue to get our name out there and tell our unique story.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe got a business mentor package, we got an upgrade of our office, and posters for the local post office. It\u2019s all great advertising.\u201d<\/p>\n
There are 100 small businesses who have been named Local Business Heroes in this round.<\/p>\n
Each of them has received a $5000 \u2018Heroes Package\u2019, including products, services, and access to business resources, all aimed towards easing enterprises\u2019 operations costs, considering inflation and rising interest rates.<\/p>\n
With the cost of living rising, Ms McErvale acknowledged that business has slowed as shoppers grow more careful with how they spend their money.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn regard to new customers, we\u2019re way down on what we\u2019d usually sell,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing named Local Business Heroes is a really great boost, showcasing us to new customers that maybe haven\u2019t seen us before, but are looking for that perfect gift.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut, babies are born all year round, and 80 per cent of our customers are repeat customers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re lucky that the people who do buy our blankets know that they\u2019re quality products that are going to last forever, and they\u2019re happy to pay.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
