THE City of Ballarat has revealed which footpaths will be built as part of this financial year\u2019s footpath program.<\/p>\n
In total there will be eight new footpaths which will cost $865,000.<\/p>\n
The new pathways will be located on Albert Street in Miners Rest from Giffard Street to Dundas Place, Smythes Road in Delacombe from Sutton Street to Wiltshire Lane and Windsor Avenue in Alfredton from Sturt Street to Elaine Avenue.<\/p>\n
There will also be new footpaths along various parts of York Street, in Rattray Court Canadian linking two existing paths and on Raglan Street in Miners Rest between Howe Street and Kennedy Street.<\/p>\n
A footpath on Heather Avenue and Lylia Avenue in Mount Clear, between Geelong Road and Jones Avenue, is currently being constructed.<\/p>\n
Another footpath on Giot Drive in Wendouree from Forest Street to Ulswater Road has recently been finished.<\/p>\n
Criteria considered when deciding footpath locations includes land use, linkage to other footpaths, volume of pedestrians and bus routes,<\/p>\n
Mayor Cr Des Hudson said the City\u2019s footpaths, which span 994 kilometres, are a vital part of the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are delivering on the Council Plan, by connecting paths and trails across the city,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe understand that residents want us to deliver the basics, such as footpaths and we are delivering key connections in our path network each year.\u201d<\/p>\n
