GEELONG\u2019S GM of football Simon Lloyd is a chance to step into the CEO role at Hawthorn.<\/p>\n
SEN\u2019s Tom Morris is reporting that the Hawks may look to Lloyd to fill the vacancy left by Justin Reeves, who resigned from the job in May.<\/p>\n
Lloyd went after the CEO role at North Melbourne earlier this year, however, the club ended up appointing Jennifer Watt.<\/p>\n
Morris said the Hawks have undertaken an exhaustive process which is expected to conclude soon.<\/p>\n
Lloyd, who has been the Cats\u2019 head of footy since 2018, is one of the names remaining at the pointy end.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey cast the net so wide for this,\u201d Morris said on SEN Breakfast. \u201cThey spoke to James Avery, who is the COO at GWS. He said no.<\/p>\n
\u201cAmeet Bains at the Western Bulldogs. They touched base with him, he said no.<\/p>\n
\u201cSimon Lethlean at St Kilda, the same answer.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd Rob Auld from the AFL, who declined as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is chatter around Tristan Salter at the AFL, who is very young and inexperienced in that role but highly rated.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut it might be Simon Lloyd, who was second for the gig at North Melbourne. We thought he\u2019d get the gig at North Melbourne but it ended up going to Jen Watt.<\/p>\n
\u201cEither way, the Hawks have spoken to a lot of different people and Lloyd is on the short list. That\u2019s probably just a fraction of the number of officials around the country they\u2019ve chatted to.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lloyd has previously spent time at both Fremantle and Collingwood having been with the Hawks in the late 1990s and early 2000s in a number of different roles.<\/p>\n
