WORKS to install a roundabout at the Ring Road and Gregory Street West intersection are now complete.<\/p>\n
The $1.1 million upgrade at the edge of Alfredton took about six months to complete and was funded by the Federal Government and the City of Ballarat with the aim of improving road safety.<\/p>\n
City of Ballarat mayor Cr Des Hudson and Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, were on site to mark the opening late last week.<\/p>\n
Ms King said the works were part of the Commonwealth\u2019s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.<\/p>\n
\u201cPrograms such as LRCI are important to local communities and support local governments, especially in the regions, in funding priority infrastructure projects,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis new roundabout at Gregory Street and Ring Road is a fantastic example of that.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re working in partnership with City of Ballarat, and councils across Australia to deliver the upgrades that get people home safely, get people home quickly and support connected communities.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Local Roads and Community Infrastructure fund covered $560,000 of the roundabout works, while the City of Ballarat paid the remaining $573,000 from the 2022 to 2023 council budget.<\/p>\n
Cr Hudson said the completion of the works would help keep people safely on the move.<\/p>\n
