NOW in its one hundred and thirty-second year, the all-ages performing arts talent displayed within the Royal South Street Society Eisteddfod continues to dazzle local audiences.<\/p>\n
On until late-October, the RSSS\u2019 competition hubs include Founders Theatre at Federation University\u2019s Mount Helen campus, the Civic Hall, and the Ballaarat Mechanics\u2019 Institute, while the traditional home of the eisteddfod, Her Majesty\u2019s Theatre, is closed for upgrades.<\/p>\n
RSSS\u2019s new chair Lindsay Eaton said some of the most popular sections are yet to take place.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn September out at FedUni we\u2019ve got the fantastic bands, dance sections, and we\u2019re finishing on October the 23rd with calisthenics, which is always so special,” he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHistorically, the month of October is known as our \u2018calisthenics month,\u2019 and if you\u2019ve never been to a calisthenics performance, it\u2019s fascinating for newbies.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Eaton said the society is working to get back to full speed after the impacts of the pandemic, and the ongoing Her Maj closures.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe dance, bands, and calisthenics are all usually at Her Majesty\u2019s, so not having that space has had quite an impact on our program,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the new chair, my role is to ensure that the program continues to run smoothly, with the support of the board, our two fabulous staff members, and all our volunteers, who do an amazing job.\u201d<\/p>\n
