IF you\u2019ve been looking for somewhere to take your used books, one of the region\u2019s primary schools will have you covered next month.<\/p>\n
Organised by the school\u2019s parents and friends committee, a second-hand book sale is set to take place at Invermay Primary on Saturday 8 September.<\/p>\n
Principal, Justin Marshman said the event will be a great way to bring the community together.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis came from a suggestion from one of our families who had heaps of books they were going to donate and wondered if other families felt the same,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s less of a fundraiser and more just a strong community initiative that\u2019s been opened up to anyone that might have books they want to part with.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone\u2019s welcome to come and have a purchase.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Marshman said he expects several hundred used books to be available through the sale with two families having already dropped off a pile of about 100 paperbacks each.<\/p>\n
The items on sale will range from 50 cents to $2.<\/p>\n
Proceeds from the sale will go towards the parents and friends committee and Mr Marshman said there\u2019s the potential for it to be spent on the group\u2019s current fundraising goal.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe parents and friends, for our upcoming 150th, have been keen to have something out in our school grounds,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re liaising for a beautiful archway and gate and this is something they\u2019re fundraising for this year that the money from this book sale can go to. It\u2019s certainly one thing they\u2019ve been saving for.\u201d<\/p>\n
