A SHADOW puppetry show for children about healing, resilience and friendship will be performed in Creswick this month.<\/p>\n
Crow Kid<\/em> is on Monday 18 September from 2pm at the at the Creswick Theatre Company and tickets cost $10.<\/p>\n The story is about the titular Crow Kid, who has moved to Nana\u2019s farm after experiencing a loss, and the pair begin to feed the corvids.<\/p>\n It will be performed by award winning Lemony S Puppet Theatre.<\/p>\n Em Chandler, a graduate of the University of Ballarat and a local resident is part of the production.<\/p>\n \u201cI am one of two performers in Crow kid with my co-performer Youbi,\u201d said Chandler.<\/p>\n \u201cWe were part of the Lemony S Puppet Lab last year which was a nine-month intensive that the theatre ran for about 12 performers and makers.<\/p>\n \u201cWe learnt lots of different things and we wanted to be part of Crow Kid.\u201d<\/p>\n The performance uses puppets and is projected onto a black screen where the audience can see the mechanisms and how the effects are created.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s fundamentally a very easy art to get your head around because we\u2019ve all made shadows throughout our lives,\u201d said Chandler.<\/p>\n \u201cBeing able to see the full narrative is really exciting as you\u2019re not just seeing it behind the screen, you\u2019re seeing Youbi and I pick up puppets and decide where to put them.\u201d<\/p>\n Chandler encouraged the community to come along and hear the heartwarming story.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a very unique Australian show with a sense of discovery,\u201d they said. \u201cThere\u2019s a gentleness to it and a realness to it.\u201d<\/p>\n
