CATS are heading to Creswick with an art exhibition set to open later this month taking inspiration from cat lover Norman Lindsay.<\/p>\n
The exhibition, titled Cats Come to Creswick, features 50 artists and will open at the Creswick Town Hall on Friday 29 September.<\/p>\n
The event is a fundraiser for John Curtain Aged Care at Creswick, a not-for-profit and community run organisation.<\/p>\n
\u201cCreswick is the home of the very famous Lindsay family and Normal Lindsay in particular loved cats and had around 40 cats when he died,\u201d said board member Sandy Campbell.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe loved cats, painted cats and gave them humanistic characteristics in his paintings.\u201d<\/p>\n
The exhibition will feature a range or artists from around the region from areas such as Daylesford, Ballarat and Maryborough.<\/p>\n
The aim of the show is to raise funds to buy a new bus for the aged car facility with all art works for sale and a $5 entry fee for adults.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re hoping to sell lots of art,\u201d said Ms Campbell.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe already have a bus but it\u2019s starting to reach it\u2019s end and it\u2019s a manual which people are finding quite difficult to drive.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s time to look at upgrading our bus.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Campbell said it\u2019s important the community continues to support not-for-profit run facilities which have a more hands-on approach with residents.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are a volunteer board who are not paid for anything and a drawn largely from around the area,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe level of care is better as although it might be an aging facility the board is much more hands on than what you would get in a privately run or government facility.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re there on sight regularly and are involved in various committees on site.\u201d<\/p>\n
The exhibition will be open from Friday 29 September until Sunday 1 October from 10am until 4pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
