ST Peter\u2019s Anglican Church will be blooming this weekend as its mission group hosts its first garden festival.<\/p>\n
From 10am to 2pm this Saturday 23 September, community members are welcome to visit St Peter\u2019s to purchase a plant for a good cause, to wander the gardens, and have a peek inside the iconic bluestone building.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur festival will have stalls selling all things garden, including plants, flowers, succulents, produce, jams, chutneys, and decorative pots,\u201d co-organiser Jill Godfrey said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou name it, we\u2019ve tried to have a little bit of everything. Music will be provided by a brass quartet and hand-held bell ringers.<\/p>\n
\u201cProceeds will be supporting Anglicare Ballarat which provides food and assistance for those in need.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are so many people struggling and needing help, so the demand\u2019s much greater and they run out of supplies, so our mission group has decided it\u2019s important to raise money for Anglicare this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Free tea and coffee, and biscuits, will be available in the rectory garden, and if weather is poor, the festival will still go on, held in the church hall at the rear of the site.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe gardens at St Peter\u2019s are really pleasant, and a fair bit of work has been happening in them,\u201d Mrs Godfrey said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe op shop will also be open, people can see inside the church, and have a look at the really lovely stained-glass windows in there.\u201d<\/p>\n
St Peter\u2019s Anglican Church is at 1309 Sturt Street, and this site has been owned by the parish since 1864.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
