IF you\u2019re a regular at Lake Wendouree, keep an eye out for runner Troy Brown in October.<\/p>\n
The teacher is undertaking 30 marathons in 30 days, and from 8am most mornings, he will be running seven laps from St Patrick\u2019s Point.<\/p>\n
His challenge is set to raise funds for the Peter Mac Foundation, and the Stroke Foundation.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a total of 1266 kilometres for the month,\u201d he said. \u201cIf people want to come out and run, or walk, a lap with me, go ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brown is a keen runner, tackling his first marathon in New York in 2010, and many ultramarathons since, and his biggest supporters were always his late mum and dad.<\/p>\n
About 12 months ago, Brown had the idea to run a marathon every day in their memory, and to benefit important causes.<\/p>\n
Beginning to prepare himself for the physical challenge, he decided that October would be the most meaningful month to act.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy mum passed away from cancer two years ago on the 1st of October, and my dad passed away from a stroke on 30th October, nine years ago,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cMum\u2019s treatment was at Peter Mac, and she spent so many hours there, so supporting them was a no-brainer, and the Stroke Foundation is for dad.<\/p>\n
\u201cOctober is not the best of months, but I\u2019m trying to make something good of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
