MUSICIANS based in Hepburn Shire are set to perform together to raise funds to help upgrade Creswick\u2019s town hospital.<\/p>\n
With cash going towards Central Highlands Rural Health\u2019s Creswick Health Upgrade Appeal, the show is titled Musical Threads: Performers for Patients.<\/p>\n
The concert\u2019s eight performers were assembled by CresFest director Judy Turner, who herself will play the viola.<\/p>\n
Creswick Health Upgrade Appeal committee member Tim Drylie will lend his tenor vocals to the show and said it will be an eclectic program of shifting players and styles.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got Susan Pierotti on violin who\u2019ll be playing solo and ensemble, playing Bach and a sonata with Andrew Welsh on harpsichord who\u2019s Daylesford-based,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve also got Judy playing with guitarist Neal Adam on some Scottish inspired songs. There\u2019s also solo cello from recent Creswick resident Conrad Hamill doing some atmospheric loops.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve also got some jazz numbers from a father-son duo, Arlo and Adrian Deakin. I\u2019ll be doing a few pieces with Andrew of Shubert and Mozart\u2019s arias.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019ll appeal to a broad range of people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Between 12 to 15 pieces will feature in the show.<\/p>\n
Since launching in late March, the Creswick Health Upgrade Appeal committee has raised about $110,000 out of their $150,000 goal aimed at upgrading the Creswick Hospital and Residential Aged Care facility.<\/p>\n
Drylie said the concert\u2019s cause is an important one for the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe hospital\u2019s a really important partner in Creswick both in terms of health provision and local jobs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has a long history in terms of its place with the Creswick community and obviously the costs around building projects have seen a massive increase and it\u2019s the same in this instance.\u201d<\/p>\n
Musical Threads: Performers for Patients will take place on Sunday 15 October from 2.30pm to 4.30pm at the Creswick Woollen Mills.<\/p>\n
