GARDEN lovers will be in paradise with next weekend\u2019s series of open gardens hosted by the Creswick Garden Club.<\/p>\n
The Garden Lovers Weekend is on for its eighth year on Saturday 11 November and Sunday 12 November.<\/p>\n
Seven private gardens will be on display for the public to enjoy including sustainable gardens, gardens in the country, and some located in town.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was first designed by Creswick Business and Tourism and the owner of the Tangled Maze, Julie Morrison,\u201d said Creswick Garden Club committee member Margaret Giles.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe saw the opportunity for the region to be promoted and it grew from that.\u201d<\/p>\n
The initiative is supported by the Hepburn Shire due to the economic benefits it brings to the community and local businesses.<\/p>\n
All funds raised from the weekend go into projects for Creswick such as resigning trails and producing brochures about the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow Business and Tourism are in the process of finishing signage at Australasia number two which is the site of Australia\u2019s worst goldmining disaster,\u201d said Ms Giles.<\/p>\n
Members of the garden club will decide where this year\u2019s funds will be directed following the event.<\/p>\n
Ms Giles said one of the best aspects of the event is the way it brings the community together.<\/p>\n
\u201cGardeners are lovely people, and they share, they are interested and they like talking,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverybody is happy to share knowledge and one of the comments people always say is that they love the community feel of the event.\u201d<\/p>\n
