AUSTRALIA Post customers will now be able to receive their online shopping on weekends, with the organisation commencing delivery in Ballarat on Saturdays and Sundays.<\/p>\n
The temporary initiative will kick off this weekend and is designed to help avoid a backlog of parcels during the Christmas season.<\/p>\n
Australia Post executive general manager of parcel, post and eCommerce services, Gary Starr, said the move was important to ensuring all customers get their parcels delivered before Christmas.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been preparing for another big sales and festive season, including recruiting thousands of additional team members, and giving customers more convenient delivery options, such as the opportunity to collect missed deliveries from free 24\/7 Australia Post Parcel Lockers instead of the Post Office,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe delivered 52 million parcels last December and we\u2019re expecting another huge peak season ahead.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the sales events ramp up and online shopping surges in the lead up to Christmas, our temporary Saturday and Sunday service is just another way we are supporting our customers at the busiest time of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n
