A PRE-COVID Christmas tradition for the Creswick community and surrounds is set to be reinterpreted early next month.<\/p>\n
On Saturday 9 December, Apex Park opposite the former courthouse will come alive with seasonal carolling and performances from local acts.<\/p>\n
The free event is called Carols at the Courthouse and is being run by members of Creswick Theatre Company, and president Neil Adam said he hopes it\u2019s the first in what becomes a returning annual tradition.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere used to be an annual carols and community picnic type thing for Creswick but it hasn\u2019t happened for the past three or four years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re keen to get it together again. We had a half-hearted one in the middle of the pandemic with people sitting metres from each other.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow we\u2019re hoping to attract the local community to come down under the trees at Raglan Street and we\u2019ll have a bunch of performers to entertain them.\u201d<\/p>\n
With the Creswick Brass Band, and CresFest\u2019s adult, and children\u2019s choirs to feature, more than 50 performers are expected to take part in the event.<\/p>\n
A barbecue will be held by Creswick Lions Club members while the company\u2019s home of the Creswick Courthouse will be opened up to the community.<\/p>\n
Photos with Santa Clause can be taken for $5.<\/p>\n
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic blankets while Creswick Theatre Company members will also perform Australian Christmas readings as part of the event.<\/p>\n
Adam said the event will be a fun occasion of community connectiveness.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s another opportunity for the community to become involved with each other and involved with our local community enterprise,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019d be happy to hear from locals who\u2019d like to contribute something to the performances as well if they\u2019d like to.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re always looking to expand what people know about the courthouse and the uses to which it\u2019s put.\u201d<\/p>\n
