TOMORROW more than forty thousand people are expected to flock to Victoria Park as the Spilt Milk Music Festival returns.<\/p>\n
This will be the third time the one-day event has been held in Ballarat, with American artist Post Malone as this year\u2019s headline act.<\/p>\n
Several road closures have been in place since Monday and will continue over the weekend.<\/p>\n
They include Cedar Drive, Poplar Avenue and Pine Avenue in Victoria Park which will be closed until Friday 8 December.<\/p>\n
Gillies Street southbound will be closed from 10am on Saturday 2 December until 1.30am on Sunday 3 December.<\/p>\n
North bound between Napier Street and Sturt Street will be closed from 10am to 7pm on Saturday 2 December and the area between Winter Street and Sturt Street will be closed from 5pm until 1.30am the following day.<\/p>\n
Gillies Street side roads will remain accessible from Longley Street.<\/p>\n
City of Ballarat mayor Cr Des Hudson said it is exciting to see the festival return to the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe saw last year that the event was a vibrant display of energy and I know that this year will be no different,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing able to attract this event highlights Ballarat as a genuine destination city and we are thrilled to see the city come to life every year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Amplified music be played on Friday 1 December from 1pm until 6pm for a system and sound check, and again occur from 10am until 11pm on the day of the festival.<\/p>\n
A temporary Telstra mobile phone tower will also be set up following issues with coverage last year.<\/p>\n
