A NEW call out is being made by staff at the Ballarat Animal Shelter for donations of food, toys, and bedding heading into Christmas.<\/p>\n
Specifically, they are looking for donations of treats, sealed wet or dry food, toys and pre-loved towels, sheets and blankets for cats and dogs to use.<\/p>\n
The annual drive is partnering with local not-for-profit agencies, including the SoupBus, to share the supplies with people who use these services and have pets.<\/p>\n
Craig Schepis from the SoupBus said the organisation is grateful for the support.<\/p>\n
\u201cWithout the support of the Ballarat Animal Shelter many homeless and people in need that attend the SoupBus would not be able to feed their animals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Animal Shelter at Gillingham Place will be open from 9am until 4pm weekdays and from 8am until 12pm on Sundays for the community to drop off their donations.<\/p>\n
An alternative drop off point is located at the Ballarat Town Hall from 8.30am to 5pm between Monday and Friday, and between 10am and 4pm on weekends.<\/p>\n
Donations will be accepted until Thursday 21 December.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year, we have a longer donation period in the hope that we gather as many treats, toys and food as possible,\u201d said mayor Cr Des Hudson.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat way we can share the festive spirit with our furry friends right across Ballarat including through other local not-for-profit agencies.<\/p>\n
