{"id":98718,"date":"2023-12-14T04:56:19","date_gmt":"2023-12-13T17:56:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=98718"},"modified":"2023-12-12T08:45:00","modified_gmt":"2023-12-11T21:45:00","slug":"concert-band-brings-the-christmas-cheer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/concert-band-brings-the-christmas-cheer\/","title":{"rendered":"Concert band brings the Christmas cheer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THOSE travelling down Sturt Street may have noticed the sound of Christmas Carols in the air, with performances by the Ballarat Memorial Concert Band.<\/p>\n<p>The group have two performances left on Sunday 17 November from 1pm and Sunday 23 December from 6pm at Santa\u2019s sleigh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re always really grateful to the City for paying us to perform for them,\u201d said president Vincent McDonald.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re in the block where all the restaurants are so hopefully there are people out there dining and we can entertain them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know we\u2019ll get a bit of an audience there and we\u2019re good for background music and passersby.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the full band is also set to play at Hop Temple on Wednesday 20 December from 6pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHop Temple has been one of regular band sponsors for a number of years now,\u201d said Mr McDonald.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll be playing a mix of Christmas carols and some upbeat pieces from our normal repertoire including songs from well know musicals and things like that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr McDonald said he hopes the performances bring a sense of joy to listeners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChristmas is all about the kids so we love it when we can get some interaction with some kids,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s great because you\u2019ve made someone\u2019s day and you\u2019ll never know if it\u2019s a future musician out there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also encouraged passersby to support all bands playing over Christmas throughout Ballarat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know the City has a number of bands playing so whichever band it is, stop for a second and support them.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THOSE travelling down Sturt Street may have noticed the sound of Christmas Carols in the air, with performances by the Ballarat Memorial Concert Band.
