{"id":98997,"date":"2023-12-22T04:57:46","date_gmt":"2023-12-21T17:57:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=98997"},"modified":"2023-12-20T10:22:39","modified_gmt":"2023-12-19T23:22:39","slug":"tv-show-contestants-aim-to-cook-up-tourists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/tv-show-contestants-aim-to-cook-up-tourists\/","title":{"rendered":"TV show contestants aim to cook up tourists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PARTICIPANTS in Network Ten\u2019s cooking show <em>MasterChef Australia<\/em> were at Black Cat Truffles located north of Ballarat recently.<\/p>\n<p>The visit was part of an initiative led by Visit Victoria where two episodes of the show were filmed in the Goldfields region.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the visit is to help showcase local produce, experiences, and scenery that could help drive more tourists to the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the best parts of working on <em>MasterChef Australia<\/em> is getting to experience new places, and new food,\u201d said host and mentor Andy Allen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince I moved down to Melbourne, I actually haven\u2019t spent a lot of time really getting to explore Ballarat, but coming here with the show is a great way to get the introduction of a lifetime this week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Black Cat Truffles is located 20 minutes from Ballarat at Wattle Flat and contestants were tasked with cooking on site and using ingredients made by local producers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs one of Australia\u2019s most iconic television shows, <em>MasterChef<\/em> will promote Ballarat&#8217;s contemporary culinary scene inspired by the region&#8217;s excellent producers,\u201d said State Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Steve Dimopoulos.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re showcasing this vibrant city to millions of local, interstate and global audiences through <em>MasterChef Australia<\/em>, boosting jobs, visitation and businesses in Ballarat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The two episodes will air on season 16 of MasterChef Australia, led by host and mentor Allen along with three new judges Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PARTICIPANTS in Network Ten\u2019s cooking show MasterChef Australia were at Black Cat Truffles located north of Ballarat recently.
