THIS March will see the Melbourne Vixens head back to Ballarat to launch their pre-season.<\/p>\n
Three Suncorp Super Netball teams will be hosted by the Vixens at Selkirk Stadium, with the initiative supported by the City of Ballarat and the State Government.<\/p>\n
Over two days fans will have the opportunity to see the team play as well as a Victorian Men\u2019s League curtain raiser.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know how passionate our netball community is across regional Victoria, and we\u2019re excited to be partnering with the City of Ballarat and the Victorian Government to bring elite netball to Ballarat in 2024,\u201d said Netball Victoria CEO Andrea Pearman.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis event will be a great opportunity to introduce our new Melbourne Vixens lineup to fans across the state, enable our athletes to engage with our Victorian netball community, and compete against quality opposition in front of a packed Selkirk Stadium.\u201d<\/p>\n
Along with the four games there will be community activities which will allow local netballers to show their skills and meet members of the Vixens.<\/p>\n
Umpires and coaches will also have a chance to take part in development activities.<\/p>\n
Mayor Cr Des Hudson said it is great to see Ballarat attracting big sporting events.<\/p>\n
\u201cSelkirk Stadium, Ballarat Sports Events Centre, is not only a terrific community facility for a range of local indoors sports, it also enables our city to attract a range of events at the highest level which will have a significant impact on our local economy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are delighted to welcome the Melbourne Vixens and their Suncorp Super Netball rivals in March.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot only will it see thousands of fans flock to Ballarat, benefitting our accommodation, hospitality and retail sectors, but it will give the region\u2019s youngsters the opportunity to meet some of their national netball heroes and provide plenty of inspiration.\u201d<\/p>\n
