AN event to support foster caring families and children was recently hosted by welfare agency Cafs at accommodation and outdoor recreation venue Cave Hill Creek.<\/p>\n
Nearly 90 people attended the day which has become a tradition on the local foster caring calendar.<\/p>\n
Carers got a few hours of respite, shared a barbecue, had a go at activities, and were able to meet with likeminded people.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis fun family event delivers significant benefit to our families and children,\u201d said Cafs manager of brand development Serena Eldridge.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’ve already booked the 2024 Carer Day and will be seeking support to make it another memorable day of joy, connection and support for our out of home care families.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe reality is that events like this are not covered under existing funding agreements.<\/p>\n

According to recruitment service Fostering Connections, there has been a regional foster carer shortage in recent years.<\/p>\n
