Current occupation and background:

Councillor with Ballina Shire. Semi-retired after a career in education.

How long in the ward community?

For more than three decades, at Lennox Head, Cumbalum and now East Ballina.

Community involvement?

A Ward councillor for the past eight years. Past President of Ballina Memorial Swimming Club and director of The Ballina Jockey Club.

Guiding values or principles?

The most important value that guides me is “Social Justice”. It is vital that councillors treat everybody fairly and without bias.

Are you or have you been associated with any political party or cause?

I am a truly independent candidate.

Preferential voting suggestions?

I am not preferencing any other candidates, as this practice is founded upon “deals”.

Campaign budget?

Approximately $1,000. It is self-funded.

Top three issues facing your ward?

Ballina Shire Council must keep its rates and charges as low as possible. A greater diversity in housing types across the shire, Lobbying for CCTV in the Ballina, Lennox Head and Alstonville CBDs and increased police staffing.
