DEDICATED karateka and martial artists are invited to take part in the 18th Kase-Ha Shotokan Karate & Self Defence Seminar on Saturday, October 11, at the Moller Pavilion, Bangalow Showgrounds.
The seminar will be led by Arie Farkas Sensei, 8th Dan and International Chief Instructor of Kase-Ha Shotokan Karate Australia.
He will be joined by Mark Smith Sensei, 6th Dan, who represented Australia at the JKA World Cup in 1978, and local instructor Jean Boussard Sensei, 5th Dan.
Together, they will deliver a full day of training that combines traditional Shotokan Karate with the practical, realistic techniques of self-defence developed in the legacy of Taiji Kase Sensei.
“This is what appeals to me most in Kase Ha,” Sensei Farkas said.
“It combines karate and self-defence in a practical way that fits with real life experience. I believe in the way of Kase Ha.”
The open seminar is suitable for all levels, from beginners to seasoned black belts. Sessions will run in the morning and afternoon, with a focus on strengthening body and mind, developing flexibility, and understanding the deeper aspects of martial arts practice.
Bangalow-based Jean Boussard is well known in the community and has been training in karate since his teens, with additional experience in taekwondo, aikido, judo, kendo, capoeira, and more.
He is part of a local group of about 60 practitioners ranging in age from six to 81, who incorporate meditation and energy awareness into every class.
Thanks to sponsorship, attendance fees remain affordable, making this a rare chance for local martial artists to learn directly from senior international instructors and cross-train with others in the region.
For more information or to register, contact Jean on 0458 245 123 or email [email protected].
