NORTH Coast aged care providers will share more than $8 million in federal funding for new beds and facility upgrades.

The funding, from the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program, includes $3.8 million for St Andrew’s Village Ballina and $4.2 million for Feros Village Bangalow.

Richmond MP Justine Elliot said the investment would improve access to quality care for older people in the region.

“St Andrew’s Village Ballina will reconfigure existing residential accommodation into four memory support households, with 31 beds for people living with dementia,” she said.

“Feros Village Bangalow will deliver 14 new rooms with private ensuites and upgraded common areas.”

Ms Elliot said the investment built on $3.6 million delivered last year for upgrades to St Andrew’s Village Byron Bay.

She said the government was responding to the growing demand for aged care on the North Coast.

“Our older Australians built this nation, and they continue to play such an important role in our families and our communities,” she said.
