Acrobats and performance animals to light up Hudsons Circus
HUDSONS Circus is bringing its latest show to the Northern Rivers, featuring acrobatics, clowns and animal performances exclusive to the popular touring group.
The circus will perform at Murwillumbah Showground from February 4–8, before heading to Lismore Showground from February 11–22
Tour manager Shane Lennon has been running the show with his wife Nancy since 2013, continuing a family tradition in the circus industry that dates as far back as 1893.
The production blends traditional circus entertainment with modern elements, including daredevil stunts, aerial acrobatics, comedy acts and animal performances featuring camels, ponies and dogs.
“It’s the first time in a few years we’ve been back in the region, and we’ve ended up putting on extra shows at both venues in the past,” Shane Lennon said.

“We’re the only show in Australia that travels with performing animals, and we have acts you can’t see anywhere else.
“A lot of companies won’t travel to the regions, but we love bringing the circus to country towns.”
One of the show’s highlights is Goldie the Clown, who performed for 15 years at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast and appears with his well-known talking car.
Goldie regularly invites audience members into the ring for interactive performances.
The animal acts include three Arabian camels, Liberty Welsh Mountain Ponies and a team of Flipping Disc Dogs, which perform a high-energy frisbee routine. A unicyclist is also among the crowd favorites.

The circus travels with dedicated trainers and carers who live and work alongside the animals, transporting them in a custom-built animal semi-trailer.
Outdoor yards with animal accommodation are set up at each venue and can be viewed by the public.
“The brand has a respected name and the shows are always changing with the times,” Lennon said.
“We get a lot of parents telling us their kids were glued to the show for the full two hours.”
Kyogle Showground will also host the circus from January 29- February 1.
Tickets for all performances are available at hudsonscircus.com.au.
