POLICE have confirmed the body of a missing Alstonville woman was located after her vehicle was recovered from water near the Emigrant Creek boat ramp.

Susan Connors, 59, was last seen travelling along the Old Pacific Highway at Woodburn about 8.40pm on November 14, 2024.

Officers attached to Richmond Police District had continued investigating her disappearance and renewed public appeals for information in the months that followed.

A NSW Police spokesperson said specialist units conducted a targeted search earlier this month.

“On Sunday, March 1, 2026, Marine Area Command divers and Water Police searched an area near the Emigrant Creek Boat Ramp,” the spokesperson said.

“During the search, a submerged vehicle was located by police.

“The vehicle was removed from the water by crane before being taken to Ballina Police Station where it was forensically examined.

“A body – believed to be that of a missing 59 year old woman – was located in the vehicle.”

The identity has since been formally confirmed.

In a statement, Ms Connors’ family said:

“After 15 long months, it is with heavy hearts that we share that our much loved Sue has been found. While we had hoped for a different outcome, we are grateful to finally bring her home.

“A cherished and beautiful soul, Sue’s life was defined by love, laughter and kindness.”

A private interment has been held this week.

A report will be prepared for the coroner by officers attached to Richmond Police District.
