THE FEDERAL Government has announced a $3 billion investment to upgrade broadband infrastructure.

The upgrade will deliver faster internet to 622,000 premises nationwide, including many on the North Coast, by 2030.

Member for Richmond Justine Elliot unveiled the funding locally on Tuesday.

“Fast, reliable, affordable internet is an essential building block of any modern economy,” Elliot said.

“Better connectivity boosts productivity, enables innovation, and creates jobs.”

This investment builds on the Government’s earlier $2.4 billion upgrade program, which improved broadband for 1.5 million premises, including 660,000 in rural and regional areas.

Elliot said the latest rollout would expand economic opportunities for North Coast residents and businesses by improving digital connectivity.

The latest funding aims to support stronger connectivity and more reliable digital infrastructure for North Coast communities.

“Rolling out faster and more reliable internet is a key priority of the Albanese Labor Government,” Elliot said.

“It’s good for our economy, it’s better for business, and it helps deliver stronger, more connected communities here on the North Coast.”
