BALLINA Coast High School hosted more than 70 industry representatives for its business breakfast, which aimed to strengthen ties between students and future employers.
The event provided an opportunity for business owners to share the key skills they are seeking in future employees and to outline the pathways into their industries.
The school was able to highlight its programs and show ways the students can help build the community’s workforce in the coming years.
Ballina Coast High School Principal Peter Howes highlighted the importance of industry engagement in education.
“Building strong partnerships between schools and industry doesn’t just shape a future workforce, it helps young people identify their passions,” Howes said.

“Every young person, no matter where they live, deserves the chance to thrive. At Ballina Coast High School, we’re determined to ensure our regional students have the same opportunities as those in the cities.
“When you bring together the world-class facilities we have at our school, and visionary local businesses, you create more than just pathways, you create futures full of possibility.”
Students from the school performed musical entertainment and worked as baristas at the event.
The day also promoted potential mentorship and work experience opportunities in the region.
The school said the idea was for its students to gain confidence and experience with future employment to strengthen the local economy.
