Car park closed for maintainenance work
HAROLD Fredericks Carpark will be closed for two days so Lismore City Council staff can undertake asphalt work to address major surface damage and improve driving and parking conditions.
The carpark will be closed from 5am on Monday, January 20 until 11pm on Wednesday, January 22. It will reopen for normal business on Thursday, January 23.
New line marking will enhance parking space visibility and safety for carpark users.
These essential upgrades are funded through the Transport for NSW Safer Cities: Her Way program, which focuses on creating safer and more welcoming community spaces.
The council received $1 million from the program for projects in the city.
Completed works in the carpark include additional footpaths, lighting and CCTV, indigenous-inspired murals, landscaping, sculptural fencing and fairy lights. The disability car parking spaces have also been relocated to allow safer access to footpaths.
The program has improved safety and accessibility to the laneway that joins Brown’s Creek Carpark to Woodlark Street.
The laneway now boasts artworks by local artists, catenary lighting, CCTV, seating, safety bollards and a convex mirror – all of which improve safety and accessibility, and reflect Lismore’s character and identity.
The locations were identified for upgrade after community consultation to identify safety issues in the CBD and ways to make it safer for the public.
