TWEED Shire Council is set to open its doors to showcase a range of its services with more than 15 free community events as part of Local Government Week.
The community is invited to join the Connect and Chat with Council event at Tweed City Shopping Centre and the Murwillumbah Markets.
It is a chance to speak with team members, including staff from the planning department.
Tweed Shire mayor Chris Cherry said the week was a great chance to connect with Council in a more hands-on and meaningful way.
“Local Government Week is a wonderful chance for our community to discover the wide range of services Council provides and how these services make a difference throughout the Tweed,” she said.
“It’s also a valuable opportunity for us to highlight the many ways we support and deliver for our residents, showcasing initiatives that protect our environment, promote wellbeing and build stronger connections.”
The Flush Facts session at Hastings Point offers a behind-the-scenes look at the Hastings Point Wastewater Treatment Plant and how wastewater is processed.

If you have an idea for your local community, you can register for the co-design workshop at Kingscliff Community Hall.
It is an opportunity to share ideas and work out how to bring projects to life.
People can also meet with Council’s NDIS and community care teams at Tweed Heads South Community Centre.
Help is available for those navigating aged care or NDIS plans, with tea, coffee and biscuits provided.
The community is encouraged to tell Council what their favourite services are. Feedback is welcome at yoursaytweed.com.au to help celebrate the best of the Tweed.
Popular options include the gallery, museum, rail trail, Clarrie Hall Dam, pools, parks and the Uki Mountain Bike Track.
There will also be a chance to take part in Council’s online trivia to win a $1400 staycation, including a $1000 voucher for any Tweed Holiday Park and an e-bike hire voucher to cruise the Northern Rivers Rail Trail.
Join in and see what Council offers, with more information at tweed.nsw.gov.au/local-government-week to learn more and book into the events. Spaces are limited.
