Council calls for new operator to run Ballina Tip Shop
ONE person’s trash could soon be another’s treasure, with Ballina Shire Council calling for expressions of interest to operate its Tip Shop from July 2026.
The current licence for the reuse facility, known as the Salvage Shed, ends on June 30, 2026. The council is seeking a community-focused operator to take over from July 1.
Located at the Ballina Resource Recovery Centre, the Tip Shop plays a key role in promoting reuse, reducing landfill and supporting sustainable waste management across the shire.
Eligible applicants include registered charities, not-for-profit organisations, community service associations and benevolent profit-for-purpose entities.
The licence will run for five years, with an optional five-year extension at the council’s discretion. While there is no licence fee, the successful operator will cover utilities and any approved alteration costs.
EOI documents are available through the council’s VendorPanel Tender Portal, with submissions due by 2pm on Friday, October 31.
The council will review applications and may enter into direct negotiations or a selective procurement process.
