Cue absolute chaos: Free Pete Murray pop-up show at Byron’s Main Beach tonight
PETE Murray fans are in for a treat tonight, with the Australian singer-songwriter announcing a free pop-up show at Byron Bay’s Apex Park from 5pm to celebrate his new album Longing.
The impromptu gig will also mark the first time fans anywhere in the world can buy the album, which is officially released today.
Murray posted the announcement on social media, writing that it “feels so special to share these new songs this way” and inviting fans to “come down, say hi, and be one of the first people in the world to hear Longing live.”
Fans quickly flooded the comments.
“Cue absolute chaos..haha. Jeebus,” wrote Coralie Rochelle De Salvo.
“Sick mate, we’ll be there,” added Colin Bullock.
Another joked, “Watch out the council inspectors don’t move you on.”
The surprise set comes after Murray’s shock decision to postpone his planned Friday 3 October show at Hotel Brunswick, which will now take place on Friday 13 February as part of a larger summer tour.
In an earlier update, Murray told fans he’d moved his October shows into the new full-band run, which will include stops at Dee Why, Drifters Wharf and other coastal venues.
