EIGHT public schools across the Lismore electorate have received upgrades and maintenance works during the summer school holidays.
More than $1.3 million was spent on the holiday maintenance blitz, aimed at preparing school facilities ahead of Term 1.
State member for Lismore Janelle Saffin said works included a refurbished canteen at Albert Park Public School in Lismore and upgrades to the sports court at Barkers Vale Public School.
Additional maintenance was carried out at Lismore Heights Public School and at The Rivers Secondary College campuses at Kadina High School and Lismore High School.
Schools in the Murwillumbah area to receive works included Chillingham Public School, Dungay Public School and Tyalgum Public School.
The summer program forms part of a broader state government maintenance rollout across NSW public schools.
More than $200 million is being spent on routine maintenance, minor upgrades and refurbishment projects at almost 850 public schools statewide.
Ms Saffin said the works would help ensure school communities were ready for the year ahead.
“I wish all school communities in the Lismore electorate the very best for the academic year ahead,” she said.
