Focus on youth as support groups host outdoor movie night
HEADSPACE Ballina and Social Futures are hosting a free outdoor movie night as part of Youth Week celebrations in the region.
It will be held on Thursday, 23 April with organisers promoting it as a relaxed evening under the stars at the Headspace venue on Swift Street.
The Jack Black comedy School of Rock will be played on the night.
The event invites young people, families and the wider community to enjoy a film in a welcoming, youth-friendly environment.
Headspace is a national youth foundation, providing early intervention mental health services for teenagers and young adults.
“Attendees are encouraged to bring along friends, pack a picnic blanket and settle in for a night focused on connection and wellbeing,” an event spokesperson said.
“The initiative aims to create a safe and inclusive space where young people can unwind, meet others and feel supported, reflecting headspace Ballina’s ongoing commitment to youth mental health and community engagement.”
Snacks and games will be available with people needing transport to contact Headspace Ballina on Facebook.
The event also aligns with this year’s NSW Youth Week 2026, which carries the theme ‘Dream. Dare. Do.’
The theme was proposed by a member of the 2026 NSW Youth Advisory Council, and encourages young people to embrace creativity, show courage and take meaningful steps towards their goals.
Selected through a statewide vote involving children and young people, the theme underpins a week of activities designed to celebrate youth voices and foster a sense of empowerment across New South Wales.
