TRAVELLING folk musicians Emmy Ryan and Anousha Victoire will return home to host a Songwriters in the Round evening at Pearces Creek Hall on Sunday, July 6.
It will be the first time they have played together locally, with Victoire having attended Pearces Creek Public School as a child, while Ryan was born and spent her early years in Lismore.
The pair met years later through a shared love of authentic folk storytelling and regular meet-ups at music festivals.
This year they performed on a shared line-up at Tamworth Country Music Festival in January.
“Songwriters in the Round allows us to play a few songs each and then have a bit of a discussion about it in a relaxed setting,” Emmy said.
“It’s the conversation and sharing of music with people that we really love. The hall is beautiful and it’s going to be a nice evening.”
Emmy is about to start an east-coast tour from Brisbane to Darwin after releasing her new album I Ain’t So Blue.
She was a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Awards last year and a finalist in the 2025 Northern Territory awards.
Most of her new album was recorded while she was based in Alice Springs, which inspired much of the material.

“Something about the physical and emotional space there made it special,” she said.
“It inspired me so much that I’ve decided to do a proper national tour. I love being on the road.
“Folk music is the music of the people, and it reminds them of their community and who they are.
“It’s important we use our platform and write about things we think need changing in the world.”
Emmy focuses on telling stories with her vocals and is supported by her guitar and mandolin playing.
Anousha has won ABC music awards and is known for her trademark fingerpicking folk guitar style.
She has a strong connection to Pearces Creek, having played at the hall in her final school performance.
