BYRON Yoga Centre is inviting the community to mark World Yoga Day on June 21 with a series of free classes.

The long-running Byron Bay yoga institution will host a week of activities aimed at reconnecting people with the core values of yoga: compassion, connection and community.

“We’re not here to debate what World Yoga Day should or shouldn’t be,” Byron Yoga Centre’s John Ogilvie said.

“We just want to open our doors, share what we love, and make yoga more available to people who need it—especially right now. For we believe that yoga has the power to change the world.”

On Saturday June 21, a full day of free yoga classes will be offered at the Byron Yoga Studio in town. The sessions are open to all levels, but bookings are required due to limited capacity.

From June 16 to 27, the centre will also run a series of “pay what you can” retreats, offering weekend, five-day, and seven-day options for locals and visitors seeking to rest and reconnect.

“We believe yoga shouldn’t be a luxury,” Ogilvie said.

“It’s a valuable tool for mental clarity, physical health, and community connection—something everyone should have access to.”
