Free youth holiday activities across the region
THIS summer, the NSW Government’s Holiday Break will provide a program for young people across regional NSW with free holiday activities.
The government initiative aims for regional youth to have accessible, enriching, educational and enjoyable experiences without financial barriers.
Activities in the North Coast region are scheduled for Lismore City and Ballina Shire council areas.
NSW Minister for Youth Rose Jackson said the Holiday Break program was a great way to support young people in regional NSW.
“Offering a wide range of free activities helps them stay active, explore new interests and build meaningful connections,” Jackson said.
“In total, the program will deliver 800 free activities across regional NSW over the summer and autumn holidays, making sure kids are learning and having new experiences with their peers.”
NSW Minister for Regional NSW Tara Moriarty said the program was to ensure equity and access to the activities.
“It is about making sure that every young person, no matter where they live, has the chance to try something new, develop their skills and have fun with their friends,” Moriarty said.
“As families face increasing financial pressures, this program offers young people the chance to create lasting memories without the added cost, making school holidays more enjoyable and accessible for everyone.”
Not-for-profit organisation dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive soccer environment Rainbow Roos will deliver ‘Fun Soccer Skills and Games’. Aimed at 12–16-year-olds events will be in Lismore, Goonellabah, Ballina, Newrybar and Skennars Head on various dates from December 30 to late January.
Additionally, the Lismore Model Flying Club will run an ‘Introduction to Aeromodelling’ on January 8, where participants can learn how to master the flight simulator and construct and fly a model plane.
