Get yer boots on for line dancing event at Bowlo

WANNABE line dancers will be able to get their kicks at a fundraising event at Lismore City Bowling Club on Saturday March 22.

Rotary Club of Lismore Networking is presenting the Boot Scootin’ at the Bowlo event, which follows its successful Bollywood at the Bowlo fundraiser in 2023.

The highlight of the event will be a demonstration from the Lennox Beach Line Dancing group, with an opportunity for everyone to learn some boot scooting skills.

DJ Shannon will play tunes and Secret Chef Catering will offer meals. There will also be raffles and prizes for the best ‘boot scootin’ outfit.

Lennox Beach Line Dancers formed as a school team at Lennox Head Primary School in 2001, with classes for everyone from children to adults now taught at Ballina Masonic Centre.

As well as social classes, some members compete at events such as Stomp in Wollongong and Winter Wipeout on the Gold Coast.

Lennox Beach Line Dancing instructor Kimberly Vidler said the group was looking forward to the event.

“They love to show what they have learned,” she said. “It’s a very modern form of line dancing these days when it comes to costumes and what they do.

“They wear tan boots and black hats and body suits and skirts instead of cowboy shirts and jeans. In competitions they can wear half a different costumes, which change to suit the music.”
